Busia and Malaba Kenya-uganda borders have officially been closed as one way of minimizing the spread of corona virus.

Busia county commissioner Joseph Kanyiri confirmed the closure, saying that no human traffic is allowed.

“The border is closed to human traffic. Nobody is gaining entry to uganda from Kenya and no one is entering Kenya from Uganda,” he said

He added that public service vehicles are not allowed to enter or exit through the two borders.

According to Kanyiri, the closure is done to protect the citizens of Kenya and Uganda

“It is all done to protect the interest of Ugandan citizens and Kenyan citizens,” noted Kanyiri

The county commissioner however said that the movement is restricted to cargo transits.
